Not many years ago, the sport of bicycle riding was considered off limits for the disabled. Etgarim was the first to introduce cycling for the people with disabilities into Israel. Etgarim’s cycling activities use hand cycles or tandem bikes, which enable people with limited movement or impaired sight to take part in this activity. Etgarim’s cycling activities allow our participants to take part in social activities, to cycle outside with their families and classmates and to be an active part of their community.
Etgarim runs 9 cycling clubs in a number of locations throughout the country – in Tel Aviv, Jerusalem, Ashdod, Kiryat Bialik, Nahalal in the north and Kibbutz Hatzerim in the Negev. The clubs are open to children, youth and adults with almost all kindes of disabilities.
