Sailing at Etgarim is a tool for achieving personal and collective excellence, while experiencing adventures among the wind and the waves. Sailing requires mutual dependence, support and team work, and sailors become friends, commanders, leaders, and team members. Moreover, sailing demands technical proficiency, and improves both cognitive and motor skills.
Etgarim’s sailing clubs around the country specialize in rehabilitative workshops for special needs populations and for youth at risk. Its sailboats are user-friendly and adaptable to different disabilities. However, they are also swift, athletic and challenging. The marine equipment is of Olympic standard, which allows experiencing sailing solo – completely on your own, or, alternatively, sailing with a team.
Etgarim operates to increase accessibility at all marine sports sites, and has become an active part of Israel’s sailing community. The organization has introduced ramps and other equipment to make other marine sites in Israel accessible for the special needs population.
