“Leave your disability on shore” is the phrase disabled scuba divers have used to describe their diving experience with Etgarim. The diving club at Etgarim enables the physically challenged to participate in diving courses and earn a diving permit.
The Etgarim diving courses accommodate most disabilities with special equipment, instruction, and diving conditions. Members who graduate from a diving course can join one of Etgarim’s diving trips throughout the year or go diving with friends and family. Etgarim members can borrow specially adjusted diving equipment if they wish to go diving on their own. Currently, over 100 divers have been trained in Etgarim’s diving courses.
The Etgarim diving club holds many diving trips to Eilat and the Mediterranean Sea, and sometimes as far away as Turkey, Jordan, and Egypt. The diving trips last between three and five days, and the trip’s route is suited for all types of the participants’ disabilities, both in terms of the diving sites and the logistics such as the hotel and transportation.
